Jeremiah Council
Faith-Leaders in Action Alongside Those in Need Mission and Goals The mission of the Jeremiah Leadership Council is to "seek the welfare" of New York City by equipping faith leaders to more effectively and forthrightly respond to the critical needs of its residents through advocacy, organizing and social service provision. We envision fulfilling this mission by focusing on three areas: policy and advocacy, education and stewardship. Goals:
- Gathering representatives of the faith community who are united in their commitment to stand along side New Yorkers in need.
- Promoting just public policies by providing forums for discussion, and training faith leaders to bear effective public witness that leads others to take action.
- Supplying the faith community with opportunities for education through conferences, forums, and seminars related to areas of social well being.
- Strengthening the human service provision of the faith community by creating an environment in which resources and knowledge can be shared.
Jeremiah Leadership Council Initiatives Quarterly Gatherings: As a council we meet four times a year to network, discuss advocacy and social service issues, and take part in trainings. Faith Based Advocacy Campaigns:Our advocacy agendas are guided by the ongoing work of our Policy, Advocacy and Research department. What makes our advocacy unique is that it is informed by our large network of human service providers and the issues they are facing on the ground. Trainings and Professional Development
