Adopt a Youth Scholar

Looking for a way to volunteer without ever leaving your home/office? FPWA can provide an opportunity for you to “Adopt a Youth Scholar” by purchasing gifts for youth participating in our Youth Scholarship Program. All of our winners have overcome extreme adversity but are persevering and going on to college. For youth coming out of foster care, or other difficult situations, having the kinds of necessities that other youth take for granted is a big boon. The 10 youth who are selected for our annual program will be honored at a ceremony on Thursday, June 19, 2008.

Our current wish list for the gift packages includes:

  • Laptop computers (new or gently used)
  • Travel drives (512 MB)
  • Scientific calculators
  • Sony Digital Recorders
  • Desk Reference Sets
  • Gift Cards to Barnes & Noble
  • Gift Cards to Bed Bath & Beyond
  • Stacking files for dorm rooms
  • Laundry Bags
  • Bath towels & washcloths

You may adopt a single scholar or several, or you may choose to purchase or donate specific items for all of the youth. All donors will be invited to attend our awards ceremony and will be provided with documentation of their donations for the IRS.
