Financial Assistance and Information and Referral
FPWA provides grants directly to Member Agencies so that the agencies may assist their clients with needs such as rent and utility arrears and one-time essential items such as beds and air conditioners. FPWA also accepts referrals from members of the Emergency Rent Coalition (ERC) and other referral sources. We continue to provide information and referrals for services. If you are in need of financial assistance for rent or mortgage arrears, please contact the City Wide Task Force (also known as Housing Court Answers) at (212) 962-4795. FPWA also operates a senior stipend program – ongoing financial assistance to seniors who meet certain criteria and who are receiving case management from our Member Agencies. This program enables seniors to remain in their homes. Openings in the program are infrequent. For more information member agency staff should contact Judy Milone, ph.(212) 801-1350. Information & Referral FPWA provides information and referral to social service staff and people in the general public who are looking for community resources and services such as, but not limited to, counseling, home care, case management and eviction prevention programs. We can also answer basic questions and public entitlements such as public assistance, Medicaid and social security benefits. Inquiries can be directed to: *Finacial assistance is supported by The New York Times Neediest Cases Fund, Jarvie Commonweal, The DeKay Trust, and the Emergency Food and Shelter program.
