Strengthening Human Service Agencies
Recruiting Volunteers and Board Members
Individual Volunteers FPWA matches talented and willing individuals with our member agencies. If you are looking to volunteer your time, FPWA can tailor an individual opportunity based upon your availability, interests, expertise and geographic preferences. More Corporate and Group Service Days Companies and other groups can contact FPWA to arrange “Service Days”, which means that they provide the volunteers, and sometimes additional resources, to complete a project at an agency. Corporations have painted rooms, created libraries, planted gardens, delivered meals, refurbished playgrounds and staged mock interviews with clients in job training programs. More Adopt a Center Program FPWA's “Adopt a Center” program seeks to foster long-term volunteer relationships between corporations and member agencies. For example, a law firm that undertook a corporate service day at an early care center liked the agency so much that they “adopted” the center. The two organizations will work together to accomplish various projects to improve the learning experience of the children at the center. The Governance Project The Governance Project recruits, trains and refers qualified professionals to serve on FPWA member agency, non-profit boards. Recruitment is focused on increasing participation of professionals of diverse races, ethnicities, ages, genders, sexual orientation and skill sets. This focus reflects our belief that boards are best served by becoming more reflective of the rich diversity that exists within our community.
