FPWA Emergency Community Support Program

The COVID pandemic and resulting economic downturn have taken an outsized toll on low income individuals and families and communities of color across New York City.

In response, FPWA member agencies have seen a drastic increase in need among their clients and parishioners. In an effort to support our member agencies in meeting these increased needs, FPWA is proud to release its Emergency Community Support Program.

FPWA's Emergency Community Support Program consists of two opportunities for FPWA member agencies:

Emergency Client Grants

Funded by the NYC COVID-19 Response and Impact Fund in The New York Community Trust and DeKay Trust, FPWA is providing $250,000 in emergency support to clients and parishioners of our member agencies. The Emergency Grant Program has been created using several funding sources which may require restricted used of funds based on population served.

Guidelines:

  • All agencies applying must be able to demonstrate active 501(c)3 status and a member in good standing of FPWA.
  • Funds must be used to support the needs of member agency clients or parishioners. Allowable use of funds includes: food supports, rent or utility assistance, or educational supports for youth. Alternate use of these funds must be approved by FPWA.
  • Member agencies with clients and parishioners living and working in the neighborhoods most profoundly impacts by the COVID pandemic will be prioritized.
  • All agencies receiving grants must document the manner in which grant funds were utilized and any related service numbers. Any receipts or documents demonstrating use and distribution of the grants should be retained by the agency for their records.
  • Agree to sign FPWA media waiver for your organization and staff and actively work with FPWA to promote the grant and your organization and participants in all media activities including but not limited to social media, print, broadcast, radio, podcasts, emails, and website.

Restaurant Gift Cards

Provided by generous donation, FPWA is providing $20,000 in restaurant gift cards to support the purchase of food for FPWA member agency staff members, clients, and parishioners. Examples of uses include:

  • Donation to families or individuals that receive services and support from the agency
  • Use with staff as stipend or support for food, meals and beverage

  • Gift Cards may be used to purchase food for member agency staff, clients, or parishioners.
  • All agencies receiving gift cards must document the manner in which gift cards were utilized and any related service numbers. Any receipts or documents demonstrating use and distribution of the cards should be retained by the agency for their records.
