FPWA hosts 2015 Impact Awards Gala

“This annual event is one of our favorites—bringing together amazing leaders in social service from all facets of the New York City community,” said Jennifer Jones Austin, CEO and Executive Director of the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies.

Those honored include the Hon. David N. Dinkins, professor in the practice of public affairs at the Columbia University School of International & Public Affairs, Impact Award for Lifetime on the Ground Service; the New York Theological Seminary, Impact Award for Faith-Based Service; and Craig C. MacKay, managing director, head of the New York Office and partner at England & Company LLC, Impact Award for Philanthropy. The evening was hosted by Emmy award-winning ABC News correspondent and best-selling author Mara Schiavocampo.

Austin said, “We are thrilled to honor these individuals and organizations for their dedicated work to help New York City’s most vulnerable.”

“Our friends at the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies work tirelessly to provide a brighter future for the most vulnerable New Yorkers—particularly those who have dwelled in the shadow of prosperity for generations,” said Dinkins, 106th mayor of the City of New York. “They have been a prominent force for good in New York City’s social service system for nearly a century, working to ensure that everyone receives the resources and opportunities that they need to thrive.”

“We are honored to receive the Impact Award for Faith-Based Service,” said the Rev. Dale T. Irvin, Ph.D., president of the New York Theological Seminary. “NYTS has a long and rich history of preparing men and women for ministry in the real world, and through our continued work with FPWA, we are ensuring that next wave of faith leaders are equipped with the tools necessary to fight social injustice.”

“As a long standing FPWA board member, I am grateful to receive this award,” said MacKay. “FPWA has been at the forefront of the human services sector for decades, working with community organizations that provide resources and support to some of greater New York’s most vulnerable citizens. I am proud to be part of that work, and I look forward to continuing to build upon the legacy of this great organization.”
