GPS is committed to providing and managing the most effective and efficient procurement service that stimulates positive outcomes for our partners to further strengthen their programs and initiatives. Our vision is to encourage greater awareness and practice sustainable procurement in every purchasing decision.
Group Purchasing Service (GPS) links FPWA members, Worker Cooperatives, and nonprofit agencies with 501(c) (3) status in a purchasing partnership where they enjoy the benefits of discounted pricing from vendors without buying large quantities.
Originated in 1943, GPS was initially designed to help agencies cope with the scarcity of goods created by World War II. Operating continuously since, GPS now has 300 purchasing partners consisting of non-profits and places of worship throughout NYC that leverage their cooperative purchasing power to ensure the best product for the most reasonable price. As purchasing partners maximize their cooperative power they operate in a more efficient manner and save money that can be used to further strengthen their departments, programs and initiatives.
