YOUTH EMPOWERMENT MOVEMENT

Do you know someone between the ages of 14 and 18 looking for an opportunity to learn about advocacy and ways in which they can address issues important to themselves and their communities? Tell them about FPWA's Youth Empowerment Movement!

In order to participate you must first:

  • Submit both the form below & the following photo release.

The Youth Empowerment Movement is a 4- day commitment. We will meet on:

  • Monday, April 2, 2018 9:30am – 3:00pm
  • Tuesday, April 3, 2018 9:30am – 3:00pm
  • Wednesday, April 4, 2018 9:30am – 3:00pm
  • Thursday, April 5, 2018 9:30am – 3:00pm
  • There will also be a Graduation ceremony (date & time TBD)

  • You will be provided with a Metrocard for the week of the program.
  • Attendance will be taken each day. The more often you attend and attend on time, the greater your chances in the raffle at Graduation.
  • Multiple absences will negatively affect your cash award and chances in the raffle at Graduation.

At each session, you will be provided with:

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch

At Graduation, based on each participant’s attendance, we will provide:

  • A monetary gift card of up to $100. (Attendance is strongly encouraged at each session.)
  • A chance to win Beats headphones and other prizes

We commit to creating a safe space together where we listen intently and honor one another’s confidentiality. Learning to navigate life changes can sometimes uncover memories and emotions that we did not even know we had buried. While we will not ask participants to reveal experiences that they are not comfortable sharing, we will place an emphasis on creating a safe space where youth feel comfortable sharing what they are ready to share and to address any emotional responses that may surface.
