FPWA Statement on New York City FY 2019 Budget Agreement

FPWA commends Mayor Bill de Blasio and New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson for reaching an agreement on the Fiscal Year 2019 New York City Budget. This $89.2 million budget keeps us on the path to achieving a more equitable City for all New Yorkers, and demonstrates the Administration’s commitment to uplifting individuals and families.

The commitment of a first-ever $106 million in initial funding for the Fair Fares discount MetroCards program will assist hundreds of thousands of struggling New Yorkers, as will expanded summer youth employment and increased afterschool funding.

We at FPWA thank the Mayor and the City Council for their steadfast work, and remain hopeful about the future of our neighbors in need as we continue our work with the City to improve economic equity and opportunity for all.
